I can't take it anymore
Starving myself, eating "healthy" foods, etc. has done 2 things for me. 1) Made me gain 10 pounds and 2) made me starved, angry, and craving a half gallon of vanilla ice cream.
In the past week I haven't eaten over 1600 calories in any single day, yet I have gained 7 pounds. What the heck, is my scale broken?

204.4
Everyday I weigh myself and have a new low weight, I wonder if my scale is broken. Today was one of those days. I broke the 205 barrier, and weighed in this morning at 204.4. To be honest I never thought I would be anywhere near 200 pounds again, at my top weight I was around 250 and wearing a size 42 waist pants. Now, I can't wear my 38 pants without a belt cinched up tight, I am pretty sure if I went shopping 34s would fit me. It feels good to see the rewards of all these low calorie meals. Pretty soon my son Jack and I will be able to wear the same pants.

96!
Today before I ate lunch, I had the lowest glucose reading since I was diagnosed. 96! Under 100 finally. That's a big milestone, now the question is, can I keep it low, and stop having the spikes of up around 160 or 180 sometimes. I guess we will see.
I'm back
So, even though I told myself I would keep up with this blog daily, I let myself forget about it over the holidays. The good news is, my blood sugar has been reasonably stable over the past couple of weeks, but it's still not as low as I would like, especially considering how little sugar and carbs I am eating on a daily basis. I am contemplating getting a second opinion on my medication, because I think I should be on more than one pill a day to get my glucose readings under 100.
Today I had a higher than normal reading in the morning, so I ate 0 carbs and meat only to try and lower it. Readings before lunch and dinner were lower, so I guess it worked.
I'm not sure what to do when I get hungry and need a snack. If I eat fruit of veggies my sugar spikes up, but there are almost no snacks available that don't have carbs or sugar or both. I feel helpless at times.
If anyone is actually reading this, I apologize for the negative tone, hopefully I will be more positive in the next post.

Doctors visit
Had a Dr. appointment today at 9am. He was happy with my progress, I brought in a spreadsheet with a week worth of glucose checks, meal/dietary nutritional information, and he said the numbers looked good. He wants me to move to taking blood sugar only twice a day after I wake up before I eat anything, and then before dinner. So I am starting that today. My morning glucose was 143, which is about what it has been the past 4 days. Will see what it is again before I eat dinner.
Waiting to get one final grade from school, I did better in one class than I thought. I am always harder on myself than I should be.

Sunday
Been sticking with the diet, still nothing to drink but water and no refined sugars. It seems to be going well, but I seriously need some new chicken recipes.
I took my final exam yesterday, so school it over until spring semester starts in January. That is a little stress relief, this semester was not kind to me. I am hoping next semester will be a lot better.
I've learned that I like red bell peppers, just raw with other things. For example, I will cut up a piece of red pepper into small bits and eat it with a hamburger patty instead of ketchup. It's actually really good.
Last glucose reading was 133. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, and am looking forward to taking him my sheet and showing him what I've eaten and what my glucose scores were.
